In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

When I was younger, when my brother was still in high school, he would always "bully" me around, and storm in my room. So I had to set limits and boundaries with him that my parents approved. He didn't really care, but still followed them. It didn't really help or hurt our connection at all. Today Mr. Rease was absent so we had to complete a commonlit. I got somewhat better at reading comprehension.

Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

In 5th grade, my best friend moved away to somewhere in Florida. I had no clue he was doing that, and for a week straight in school, I noticed that he wasn't at school. So I go up to my teacher and ask where he was. She says that he moved. I didn't want to believe her, but it was the truth. I was the saddest person at school for the next week. I didn't even want to talk to any of my other friends. This represents "Nothing gold can stay" because it represents a great friendship, that sadly had to come to an end. Today in class we read 2 poems by Robert Frost, and did some analyzing on the first one. The second one, we had to answer some questions about it on a worksheet. I got better at using context clues to find definitions of words, even if I don't know what they mean.

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your favorite word and how often do you use it?

My favorite word right now is facts (or how I say it, fax). It is my favorite word because it's an easy answer word. You can say it after many things. I probably say it around 3-5 times a day. Today we worked on our power point presentations. I really enjoyed the class today because it made me think back to when I was younger, with not a problem to worry about..

In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

When I imagine, I eliminate most problems from my life. So I normally have a positive experience to cope with my challenges. I think about something positive and something I enjoy. Today we turned in our comics, and we read another poem by Robert Frost called "Birches". It talked about wanting to go back to your childhood. I learned a new lesson. Enjoy you childhood and younger years before adulthood.

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

One time when I was younger, I was climbing a tree, and kept going up and up until I couldn't go any higher. Once I made it to that point, I enjoyed the view. By the way, I'm about 50 feet in the air. I start working my way down, but I get to a point where there is not an easy way back down. I start to panic, and nobody was near me to help. I knew I had to lock in to stay alive. I hugged onto the main tree, and slid my way down to the nearest branch. I thought I was fine until I heard a crack come from beneath me. Luckily, I act quickly and scurry down to the next branch. In the end, I made it down fine. Today we read Out Out by Robert Frost. A poem about a young boy doing a man's job with using a saw, eventually kills himself by cutting off his hand. I learned a lesson to always be careful, and do what you want to do as a kid, before doing a man's job.

What did you do over fall break?

I was home all break, and I did a lot of relaxing. But I did some fishing, exploring, and hanging out with friends. I also hung out with family that visited for the last weekend of the break. Today we took notes on our new vocab. We started a comic that has to include all the vocab words. Today I got to go back in my childhood and create a comic!

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Normally I just take a seat outside and have a drink for a minute. Other times I take a break by going outside. Either play some basketball, or chip some golf balls in my back yard. Today we wrapped up our Ambush paragraph. I got better at constructing an argumentative paragraph.

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

My mom said to never do something your'e not comfortable with doing. So I took her word. Today we continued our response on the "Ambush" story. Made my claim, and got some evidence. I got better at coming up with evidence to back up my claim.

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

I had to step out of my comfort zone when trying cow tongue. I didn't want to take a bite out of it, but I thought it would be cool, and I could say I've done it. Never again though. Today we read Ambush, about a guy killing someone with a grenade. Then we started constructing a paragraph with a claim, evidence reasoning, and counterclaim. I got better at reading comprehension.

Write about a dream that felt real.

I don't dream. Or at least I don't remember my dreams. Today we took notes on vocab #3, and wrote sentences using those words. Then we went on Newsela to complete a reading article and answer questions. Today I learned new vocab words that I can use in my everyday life.

Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

I've been curious about space. Does it ever end? Is there life other than us? I would love to go to space one day. Today we took the vocab test and wrote our paragraph. I got better at constructing a paragraph with a claim, evidence, backup the evidence, counterclaim, and conclusion.

Write about the best gift you have received.

The best gift I have ever received was a trampoline when I was 5. It lasted me a solid 9 years, and many good memories came from it. I would jump on it everyday, and never got bored of it until I got older.  Today we took our vocab quiz, then we took notes on body paragraphs. After that, we discussed evidence and did a unpopular opinion assignment. I practiced a lot of vocab, and learned many new words that I'll incorporate into my regular vocab!
